Microsoft Clarity shipped its Citations feature to general availability on 13 May 2026. It is free. It requires no infrastructure changes beyond the standard Clarity tracking code. And it measures something that until this week had no reliable measurement tool: how AI systems cite your content.
The dashboard sits at Dashboards > AI Visibility > Citations inside Clarity. It tracks how AI systems retrieve your pages, evaluate them for relevance and reference them when composing responses. This is not search console data. This is visibility into the AI answer layer that sits above traditional search.
For the cost of zero dollars, you can now see whether your content is being cited by AI or ignored entirely.
Why it matters
AI citation has been the most important unmeasured metric in marketing for the past year. Marketers knew AI search was eating into traditional organic traffic. They knew brand mentions in AI responses drove qualified leads. But they had no dashboard to track it systematically.
Cost of Microsoft Clarity's AI Citations dashboard, now in general availability
Clarity's approach uses client-side tracking to detect when content is retrieved and evaluated by AI systems. That means you see the activity at the page level: which pages are being cited, how often, and in what context. Compare that against your existing traffic patterns and you start to see where AI is driving awareness that never shows up as a click in GA4.
The GA4 integration makes this more powerful. Connect Clarity to your GA4 property and you can correlate AI citation patterns with conversion events. Pages that get cited frequently by AI systems but receive low direct traffic are building brand equity in a channel you were previously blind to.
What to do about it
Install Clarity if you have not already. It takes two minutes. Connect your GA4 property. Navigate to the Citations dashboard and establish your baseline. Then compare your most-cited pages against your least-cited pages. What structural, formatting and content patterns correlate with citation frequency? Build more of what works. This is the first free tool that makes AI visibility tangible. Use it before your competitors do.
