Google now lets Demand Gen campaigns run dynamic ads from business data feeds without a Merchant Center feed, opening the format to travel, real estate and automotive advertisers. Dynamic inventory ads are no longer a retail-only tool.
Dynamic inventory was the retailer's advantage for years. Google just handed the same move to travel, property and auto.
Google has brought business data feeds to Demand Gen campaigns, which means advertisers can now run dynamic ads that pull from their own inventory without a Google Merchant Center feed. The update is aimed squarely at industries Merchant Center never fit well, travel, real estate and automotive.
Until now, dynamic product ads in Demand Gen were built for retail. If you sold flights, houses or cars, you were stuck with static creative while retailers served personalised inventory at scale. This closes that gap. A property agency can now serve the right listings to the right audience. A car dealer can surface the right models. A travel brand can push the right routes, all from a feed, all without the retail plumbing.
Why it matters
For Australian advertisers in these verticals, this is a real capability upgrade, not a press release. Property and travel are two of the biggest ad-spending categories in the country, and both live or die on showing the right specific thing to the right person at the right moment. A feed-driven Demand Gen campaign does that at a scale a human building static ads cannot match. The catch is the same as always. A dynamic campaign is only as good as the feed behind it and the measurement underneath it. Point it at a messy feed and you will scale the mess.

What to do about it
Clean your feed first. Accurate pricing, availability and images decide whether this works. Garbage in, garbage scaled.
Start with your highest-intent inventory. Your best-converting listings or models are where dynamic serving pays off fastest.
Set conversion tracking before you launch, not after. You want to know which inventory actually drives enquiries, not just impressions.
Test against your current static Demand Gen. Prove the lift before you shift the whole budget.
The format finally fits your business. Whether it earns its place is still a question you have to answer with your own numbers.
