Publicis posted 4.8% organic growth in Q2 2026 and raised its full-year outlook, crediting AI-powered services that now make up 87% of revenue. The agency giants have turned AI from a threat into a growth line. Ask what that buys you.
When your agency says AI is driving its growth, the fair question back is simple. Is it driving mine, or just theirs?
Publicis reported 4.8% organic revenue growth in the second quarter of 2026 and raised its full-year guidance to a floor of 4.5% and possibly 5%. CEO Arthur Sadoun said the group accelerated on every front, with the headline margin hitting a record 17.5%. The company says its AI-powered marketing services, now 87% of net revenue, grew 6.5% in the quarter.
Read past the earnings gloss and the signal is clear. The biggest agency groups have stopped treating AI as the thing that eats them and started booking it as the thing that grows them. Publicis has been buying to back it, adding LiveRamp for data collaboration and 160over90 in sports.
A holding company growing on AI is not the same as your business growing on AI. Their margin comes from selling the capability. Your return comes from whether the capability moves your numbers. Those are two different scoreboards.
Why it matters
Australian marketers are being pitched AI-powered everything right now, and the confidence is real because the sellers are genuinely making money from it. That does not tell you whether it works for you. The businesses that win here treat every AI service the same way they should treat any spend, with a plain commercial test. Does it make volume? Does it make margin? Or does it just make the agency's quarterly statement look good? If it does not do one of the first two, you are funding their growth story, not yours.

What to do about it
Ask for the outcome, not the label. AI-powered means nothing on its own. What did it change in your pipeline, your cost or your conversion?
Demand a before and after. If a new AI service cannot show a baseline it moved, it is a story, not a result.
Watch your own margin as spend shifts. Agency efficiency should show up in your numbers, not just theirs.
Stay curious, not credulous. The groups selling this are talented and incentivised. Both things are true.
Strong agency results are a good sign for the industry. They are not evidence your account is working. Check your own scoreboard.
